American and Dutch company from Zwolle enter the European market together |

The fragile economic situation did not stop the Zwolle cleaning cloths and floor cleaning products enterprise Wecovi making a substantial investment, giving the economic climate in Zwolle a positive boost. Closely cooperating with the American company Americo, Wecovi will start producing professional floor pads on the premises in Zwolle. This will make Wecovi an important player on the European cleaning market. On Tuesday19 January, a new production line was started by the head of the economics department of Zwolle local authority, Mr. Martin Knol.

Wecovi is giving a new impulse to a presently weak market and that is good news, Mr. Knol said. “It is of vital importance for entrepreneurs as well as for the economy that companies look for new possibilities and new innovative products and applications. It is up to the entrepreneurs to do this and Wecovi certainly has taken the initiative. The company adds to its production and that will become an extra stimulant for the economy in this region”. With the new pads, cleaning can be done better en more environment-conscious. This enables the branch to achieve a considerable quality improvement. Mr. Knol started the new production line by die-cutting the first cleaning pad, together with the three young sons of director-owner Hans Paul Visscher. |

Family business
Wecovi is a second generation family business. Family firms are important pillars of the economy. Americo too is a second generation family business. This firm is a large player in the cleaning world. Americo will supply the base material for the pads. “Both companies speak the same language”, emphasized director-owner Hans Paul Visscher in his opening speech. “We make an ideal match as strategic partners in Europe.”

Quality improvement
The new floor pads will be marketed under the name Wecoline Pads by Americo. Wecovi and Americo are going to persuade the professional cleaning branch that these pads can do a better and more environment-friendly job cleaning floors than other pads. To support the cleaning branch and to help them to achieve this quality improvement, cleaners will be able to follow a special e-learning training module via internet. |

 Recycled PET bottles
Wecovi invests with an eye not just on product innovation and new possibilities on the European market; the firm chooses emphatically for investing in a ‘green’ production line. The floor pad production uses exclusively recycled PET bottles, such as are used for soft drinks. There are twelve two-litre bottles required for the production of five pads. Plastic recycling is a hot item in The Netherlands just now. Over the last few months, municipal plastic collection from private individuals is becoming a huge success. Knowing this, it is a positive thought that Wecovi is just at this moment opting for this production method.
Full steam ahead
Wecovi is now facing the task to prove itself and to convince the cleaning professionals of the quality of Wecoline Pads by Americo. Director Hans Paul Visscher: “Employees and suppliers have worked very very hard to get the production line up and running and to start up the marketing. Now, we are going full steam ahead for the European market.”
